Default NHL Network: This is the team to watch in the second half

Is it weird that this kind of talk makes me nervous?

And they didn't even talk about the Flames schedule either, which is ridiculously home heavy now that they powered through the first half gauntlet schedule the NHL saddled them with.

They should just shut the hell up, stop talking about the Flames, go back to talk about their beloved Oilers and tell the world Oilers is the team to watch.

Not weird at all, I totally get it. But I have faith in Sutter, he won't let this go to their heads at all.

Nah, embrace this talk. This is part of what makes hockey fun. The Flames are contenders and they're getting the praise they deserve ... and they're not even at full strength yet. The deadline is still to come.

I'm sure Sutter constantly reminds them "don't get too high or too low" this has always been his mantra.
Honesty and directness is how Darryl makes these guys better.
We've seen it so many times where he says in pressers that said player is ____ or ______ and he's just being honest.

He loves bulletin board stuff and uses it well to expand upon getting things across to his players and the media (especially Francis) .
I like him keeping them grounded but I love how Darryl can also be facetious as well....its my favorite part of Darryl being Darryl.

The media pumping our tires is kind of cool but I still cherish the role of the underdog and have since 03/04.....hell....even when the oilers were winning cups we could beat them on occasion and still get no respect.

Daryl wont like this - he prefers to be positioned as the underdog with something to prove.

I highly doubt Darryl even cares.

Shush, we are underdogs who will be lucky to make the playoffs. And that is the narrative outside of Calgary.

1. The Flames have arguably had the worst schedule in the league to this point, and had a run in with COVID during the midst of it

2. They've actually lost several games they had no business losing as they were easily the better team. They also haven't won many games they should have lost.

They really are a team to watch if they can stay healthy, and expecially if Treliving adds to the middle six forwards.
