Default NHL adds two new events to 2022 All Star Game

Wut? Lol

https://www.nhl.com/news/all-star-sk...ff/c-330366304

Quote:
In the Fountain Face-Off, eight players will compete on, well, unfrozen ice. They will take a boat to what Mayer called "center water" in front of the Bellagio and see who can shoot pucks into five targets in the least amount of time. There will be a qualifying round and a head-to-head final.
Quote:
In the 21 in '22, five players will stand on Las Vegas Boulevard and put a new twist on street hockey and blackjack. They will shoot at 52 oversized cards, trying to get the highest hand in the fewest shots without going bust. The first player who wins two rounds wins the event.

These sound like they'd be fun video game events. Real life? We'll see, but I'm a sucker for skills contests (and game shows) so I'll watch.

If they get the right players and have them do it without helmets and mic'd up to actually show some personality it will be good.

If they get Connor McDavid and his robotic self to do it it will be terrible.

What if Connor has to do it with an adoring elderly couple holding his arms? We'd all watch that.

ASG weekend is not to be taken seriously. So who cares if they add gimmicky events like this. There's a small chance it might actually be fun to watch.

The only thing I enjoy about the ASG is hardest shot contest so just don't screw around with that please.

Its back to foam targets this year! This makes me happier than it should.

All-star games are cool events if your city is hosting them or you're six years old. Otherwise I really don't get the appeal.

I think these are cool ideas for Vegas and I'm sure the people there will like them. But personally I have no interest in them.

Why not? If I'm not busy, I'll give this a watch but won't be planning my day around it. I wish we had a couple more players going though.

Maybe they should have a ball hockey tournament on the Strip in front of one of the hotels. That might have been interesting.

The card game sounds alright.

The boat thing is silly but whatever. I’m only gonna watch the highlights anyways.

The Bellagio fountain thing sounds exceptionally stupid. But whatever.
