Default Remembrance Day 2021

Take a couple minutes tomorrow to think about veterans old & young, living & dead.

Also, if inclined make a donation of time/money/food to:

https://theveteransfoodbankofcalgary.ca/

or

https://veteransassociationfoodbank.ca/thrift-store

Simple actions matter as well.

Spoiler!

This seems like as good a place as any to put this. Pretty moving stuff.

My wife heard good things about this, so we are going to watch it tonight:
Quote:
This documentary introduces us to thousands of Indigenous Canadians who enlisted and fought alongside their countrymen and women during World War II, even though they could not be conscripted. Ironically, while they fought for the freedom of others, they were being denied equality in their own country and returned home to find their land seized.

Loretta Todd's poignant film offers forth the testimony of those who were there, and how they managed to heal.

Glad CTV and Global carried the ceremonies on TV. Hopefully next year we can go back to attending these in person.

Was just saying this to someone as well lol. Band of Brothers is my favourite series of all time.

The Pacific is on my yearly watch list as well and I listen to With the Old Breed and Spearhead every year as well. So good!

Though tragic there is little else that I love more than learning about History (WW2 in particular).

Well that was awkward during the moment of silence.

Sounds like they had a suspicious package concern.

Yup, still could have held off the announcement, also muffed placing the reef when she turned her back after placing the reef down.

Overall a nice ceremony as always. But a lot of weirdness.

Yes, when in uniform.

Yes and you don't turn your back to the memorial after laying down the reef and saluting it.

Her protocal people didn't do a good job of briefing her.

Wreath, not reef.

My Grandpa passed away yesterday morning, just saw that CBC did an article on him.

Was very cool growing up with such an incredible figure, tough to live up to. His generation is just better than us in every single way.
