Not surprised based on play.

Surprised that it actually happened, though.

Funny that Rooney and Carpenter go on waivers at the same time. NYR and Flames essentially swapped them as free agents.

I never understood the Rooney signing to begin with at the salary and term they gave him. He is pretty much the definition of roster filler.

They probably won't mind if someone claims that contract.

Yeah Rooney was a weird signing. Doesn’t help that he seemed to be in Sutters dog house from day one.

I do wonder if it would have been different if we saw Rooney-Backlund-Coleman more. Looked great in that one preseason game and didn’t see them together again.

Who's responsible for pro scouting depth players? Last season they wasted a 4th round pick for 25 games of Pitlick and this offseason they give this guy a 2 year, $2.6 million contract despite poor advanced stats. Self inflicted wounds.

Looking at the front page of CP, this news turned into a true Fata!

So if he goes down the number above the portable cap stays with the Flames right?

Something like 150K?

It's good that Treliving just makes the right moves today despite the fact that they admit a prior mistake.

Two-fer on the good news here, not only do we maybe not have to watch Rooney anymore, but Edmonton fans have to gut the potential waiver loss of yet another claimed saviour/prodigy in Tyler Benson.

Max of $1.125 mil can be buried in the AHL this season.

So sending Rooney to the AHL will leave a cap hit of $175k on the books

Peace.

Dude just didn't cut the mustard at all. Didn't have one redeeming game at all this year so far.

I wonder if we make a claim for Carpenter and Rangers make a claim for Rooney?

I tell myself that they have limited pickings on available players who want to come here for bottom 6 roles compared to other cities. Unless they pay for it, but they can’t.
