Top 10 Flames goalies of all time
Saw someone on Twitter put together a list of the top 10 Vancouver Canucks goalies of all time and I was both inspired to put together my own list for the Flames and curious to see what the community had to say.
This was what I came up with. I only considered Calgary history — not Atlanta — and weighed longevity slightly less than ceiling. But I've only watched half of these guys and I'm sure some of you all can offer more context.
1. Kiprusoff
2. Vernon
3. Markstrom
4. Lemelin
5. Brathwaite
6. Talbot
7. Kidd
8. Turek
9. Rittich
10. Ramo
What would your list look like?

If I wanted to curse the team I would've said Markstrom is better than Kiprusoff
Hey what else is there to talk about with three days off?

Dan Bouchard and Pat Riggin both belong on the list. They both belong higher than Braithwaite, Talbot, Kidd, Turek, Ritich, Ramo.
Wamsley would be higher than Ramo, and maybe others.

Dan Bouchard was a guy Ryan Pike suggested to me, too. Only played 14 games with Calgary so I didn't really consider him for my list but if you're factoring in Atlanta, absolutely.

I thought you said Flames history, but you did specify Calgary Flames history. Bouchard hated Calgary and demanded a trade. No way he makes a list based on his Calgary contributions.

Craig Anderson, Grant Fuhr, and Curtis Joseph we’re all pretty good.
I’d probably put Noodles McLennan on the list just for slashing the **** out of Franzen in what I believe was his last ever NHL game.
In short, my list would be Kipper, followed by a bunch of guys people never realized played for the Flames.

Great list. Not sure about your 9 & 10, I'd maybe put Pat Riggin in 10, mainly because of that first year in Calgary team success and playoff run. In the old barn!

1. Kipper
2. Vernon
empty space
3. Reggie
empty space
4. Freddie
5. Kidd
6. Riggin
7. Turek
8. Wamsley
9. Ramo
10. Markstrom
Markstrom is really on the list only because of the shutouts. He just hasn't been here long enough to be on any top 10 list yet and has yet to play a playoff game. But the SO's are real and he is already 6th all time.
You want to look at a depressing stat look at all time Playoff wins for Flame goalies. 6 wins gets you 4th place. That is over 40+ years.

Trevor Kidd doesn't belong on any "top" lists other than great masks.
There are only 5 Flames goalies worth mentioning: Kipper, Vernon, Lemelin, Turek, and Brathwaite. Markstrom will join the list if he plays out his contract.

I feel your pain but Turek? He hasn't done anything to be in the top group. Never won a playoff game, 6th in wins. He was very hot for a period of time in a season that ultimately went nowhere.

CuJo should get #10 solely for that epic comeback playoff win where he shut the door.

We really don't have 10 goalies that deserve to be on a best of all time list.
Right now, I'd put Vladar higher up than all but 5 of the goalies named on any of the lists so far.
Kipper, Vernon, Cujo, Lemelin are the only past ones worth mentioning.

Markstrom will likely pass Braithwaite in games played with Calgary before his contract is even halfway over. Why wait so long to include him?

Other than Kiprusoff and Vernon, it’s really tough. It was nice to think about all the goalies I could that amounted to nothing - Doug Dadswell, Andrei Trefilov, and Tyler Moss to name a few that sprang to mind. A few fan favourites too like Rick Tabaracci, Noodles and Fred Brathwaite.
