Default Looking to fix/replace a doorframe

Last night when my wife and I got home from our night classes at Sait, we discovered our side door had been kicked in. Yes, jewellery taken, all the drawers in the bedroom were emptied looking for money and such. They came into the yard and left out the back alley. I'm still rather upset about it.

Anyways, of course the door jamb has been destroyed, so I need that fixed ASAP. And now the missus would prefer a sturdier door, and perhaps replace the front door to make it safer too.

So there are a lot of door and window places in the Yellowpages, does anyone have any experience with any of them? Anyone you would recommend?

You should move out of the NE.

I know a couple of very good contractors that could do this work, but they're booked through to middle of next year. I don't think you have that kind of time. But it'll take you a long time to fit into someone's schedule if they're any good.

Really, the job is pretty easy to do. Are you any kind of a handyman? If you own a house you probably have the skills required to hang a door. It's very simple.

Actually, my area has been pretty good. You cross to the south side of 64th and then it is a bit unsavory. The wife would like to move, but with the Calgary housing crunch and now the interest rates creeping up it would put me in the poor house.

I can do a bit of handyman stuff. I picture myself as a handyman but know better since I get frustrated when it doesn't work the way I want it to work. Since repairs will be covered by insurance, I've been told to have it fixed and submit the invoice. So rather than me fart around with it for a day in the bitter cold, I'd rather hire someone who knows what they are doing.

I don't know how good this would be, but you could always go buy it at home depot and have them install it?

let me know how it works out and who you went with as I need to replace a door pretty soon as well.
