Default Flames 5 Rangers 1

Game Takes: Flames 5 Rangers 1

- Coleman with a goal and an assist
- Tanev/Kylington fancy stat beasts
- Markstrom rock solid and the undertold story

Great write-up, as always.

Still small sample sizes, but the Markstrom critics are going to have to put it on hold for a while.

GAA of just under 2, and a save percentage of .934

I imagine we see Vladar tomorrow, but you never know with Mr Sutter

Though it clearly had no effect on the result, holy crap did the C's ever get their heads caved in taking face-offs.

I imagined that at some point this club would morph into a Sutter personality type team. Not in a million years would I have guessed it would be before Halloween.

If they stay healthy, this club could be the surprise of the entire NHL.

Coleman looks really quick on a couple of plays

I'm cautiously optimistic that we may have for once nailed a UFA signing...cautiously optimistic

Surprised at the high danger differential. I would have given the Flames a meaningful edge there having watched the game, not the opposite. Shows what I know I guess?

Good to see Backlund get going as I was getting worried that Coleman was going to get buried. Not a fan of some of the line combinations but clearly they are working right now and Darryl only cares about wins not style points which is fine with me.

10 goals in 9 NHL games for Mangiapane, plus what, 7 goals in 5 games IIRC in the WC? That's a hell of a hot stretch!

He just out hustles every shift. And isn't afraid to go into danger. I love watching him.

I am worried about my level of excitement and growing confidence in the team. Oh well just going to enjoy it and try not to talk #### to all the Nucks fans here in Victoria

On Mangiapane, even though he scored the game before as well, I felt this was a bit of a bounce back from a game that wasn’t at his usual level. He and Dube were much better than the previous game. In fact, so was Ritchie. When Ritchie skates hard and forechecks, he contributes to that line and his presence makes much more sense.

Since I was a kid it was always .500 .500 .500 on road trips as a aim in my head. Don't remember too many that started 3-0-0.

The high danger shot totals do seem out of whack. We scored 5 on 7?

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

This chart shows NY having a heavier concentration in the home late area, but Calgary having way more activity in the offensive zone overall.

There was that one in the Keenan years that ended 6-0. But otherwise, neither do I.

I dont know if Tanev is that great of a teammate.
Instead of passing to Lindholm to try and continue his goal streak he went and scored himself.
What kind of a guy puts goal scoring and winning games ahead of a teammates personal achievements?
