Default Just a common sense warning

If you come down with the latest flu thats going around you need to be really aware of some of the symptoms, after seeing my Doctor today because I felt like I was drowning today I found out that this little bug tends to migrate to your lungs and causes them to fill with fluid which can be a pretty dangerous thing if you've ever suffered from asthma or any other lung problems.

If you start feeling really lethargic and you start having trouble with your breathing, drop everything and go see your doctor, at the worst they'll give you a temporary inhaler to clear your breathing passages.

Just thought I would pass it on.

That sounds kind of scary, what are the other symptoms? Just the regular?

Starts with a sore throat, then it hits your sinuses, some people get sick to thier stomach.

If it goes beyond that you start to get a really dry hacking cough, then you feel a little better for a day, then you get really bad if it continues, your cough gets wet and persistant, when you lie down you get short on breath.

Its a scary flu, like I said especially if you have a pre-existing lung condition

****, that sounds almost exactly like what I have right now.

I started off by taking Cold FX for the first three days and now I'm taking some generic cold & flu medication.

When I started to get sick I was astonished at my body's ability to create and unreasonable amount dark green mucus.

Today, I am our from under the dry cough and dark mucus but nose is still running on occaision and I have a bit of a wet cough...

Thanks for the heads up. Taking the train everyday, I've noticed a large number of people with really terrible coughs that seem like they might have this flu. Better keep my distance.

I got this a couple weeks ago and it stuck around for at least a week and a half. I didnt get the fluid in the lungs or anything like that but man that cough lasted forever.

One way to tell if you are coming down with the Avian flu to watch out for- if you suddenly have the urge to crap on somebody's windshield.

30% of my office was out last week as well....I got sort of sick (not really though) and I seem to be fine now. Looks like I was a "carrier" not a "receiver".

I'm a bit of a drugstore cowboy, and as a prevention/training supplement I guzzle quit a bit of glutamine. I haven't been sick the entire time people have been keeling over around me, so I would think it's been doing something.

mmm well I think my body made myself stay healthy over my crunch time at school, but now my throat is feeling like it's filled with mucus.. (no cough yet really..) think this is the flu?
and ditto on starting the cold-fx.. first time trying it, lets see if it works.

How long after "feeling better" until it hits you again? I started with a bit of cough, headache and slight cough on Friday. Sat the cough went away but I had a killer headache and felt incredibly weak all day. Yesterday I was feeling better other than a little stuffy nose and by last night and now this morning I have a runny nose and sore throat....flu?? Please god no!

Well maybe I'm being paranoid, but I'm getting sick again. I had gotten over it about a week ago, and it came back strong last night.

I also had this flu. Just at the tail end of it right now it really knocked me on my butt. The shortness of breath was the scariest part. Still have the cough and waking up in the morning with full sinuses. By far the crappiest illness I've ever had

I'm currently Ill with it right now. To make matters worse, I have asthma, so its not really going well, my doctor is busy soo i'll be calling him again till I can get in. I seriously thought I caught some sort of virus that would send me to the hospital..

How did it all start for you guys - ie what path did your symptoms take? I am trying so hard to avoid it all as I also have asthma.

Just became sick yesterday. Symptoms started at work. Had a bad sharp pain in my chest, almost like heartburn or ulcer. Went home, then the shivering started and fatigue. Before going to bed, shivering stopped and the sweating started. Bought $30 of meds and drugged myself to sleep. Woke up this am without the sweating or shivering, but now have a huge headache and sinus pain. Muscles are really weak as well. Almost feels like water is running down my sinus'. Not a happy camper today. Good thing I had sick days left over. For now it's DayQuil and the flu lemon drink before going to bed.
