Ryan Francis still up with the club. Hopefully he gets a look in Friday or Saturday’s pre-season game. Good to see Duehr survive the cuts too

Luke Philp didn't look great. Noticeably behind the play and running around.

No surprises really.

Kuznetsov assigned to Stockton, not Saint John. No Memorial Cup for him!

Duehr has been the most deserving. I really want to see Ryan Francis in a preseason game to see how he compares.

Still holding out hope that Pospisil can steal a spot.

Hard not to be bummed about Zary and Kinnvall, they would have been two fun stories in camp.

Right now the story is what?

Gudbranson, Kyllington, Mackey, Stone

Rittchie vs Gawdin

Vladar vs Werner (although I think Vladar is a lock).

So the 6th 7th D man, The 13th forward spot and the backup goalie.

Not exactly exciting stuff.

You are right not overly exciting, Duehr for me is exciting as it is a young, big bodied, speedy, fourth line winger that we have missed since Hathaway.

Zary was always a long shot for this year. No rush with him anyway.

Gawdin, Francis, and Dueher have been nice surprises.

Kylington earning the #6 spot would be massive imo.

That’s what I’ve taken from the preseason games. The flames prospect pool is very shallow. Other than maybe goaltending.

I don't think anyone viewed this camp as a prospect pushing camp to start with though.

Calgary's best prospects are either not here (Coronato), hurt (Zary) or first year pro (both Zary and Pelletier).

They're certainly not ripe with 21 year old blue chip prospects ready to step in, but the guys with the biggest ceiling are all a year or two away.

Yeah, four of the Flames top ten prospects (Coronato, Zary, Stromgren, Kinnvall) have not been participating in camp. Five, including Heineman, who was ranked #11.

After this preseason if Kylington goes on waivers I strongly expect a team will pick him up. Two years from now we will watching a top level defenceman who should have been playing for us. Its the Calgary way!!

I really doubt we will see a top level defenseman in Kylington. That said, I agree we definitely need to see what we have in the guy. Trading a guy like Stralman for a 3rd round pick after he showed promise in camp hurt quite a bit. Losing a guy like Kulak to MTL was not great but nothing I'm too upset about. Right now I personally evaluate Kylington a lot closer to Kulak than Stralman.

I think people forget he played 86 games in the 2019 and then 2019 seasons and I cannot remember him being slammed by the board so he cannot have been that bad. I still think there is a good defender in Kylington and he deserves a good run. Lets face it he is the only one capable of moving the puck out of defence on this team.
