Flames sign Juuso Valimaki for 2 years. 1.55m aav
✍️ Vali is signed ✍️
The #Flames have signed @juike4 to a two-year deal: https://t.co/2HtTqEjjGJ https://t.co/OLg9vqwloJ
2x 1.55m
Good signing. Actually really good signing IMO.
Valimaki salary breakdown:
$1.1 million in year one
$2.0 million in year two
$3.1 million total for a $1.55 million AAV.
He’ll be RFA with arbitration rights at the end of the deal. #Flames

More than I figured he’d get.
But Zadorov was less. So probably combined what I envisioned.
We still should have $4-4.5 million left over when the dust settles. Something else has to be coming beyond our RFA/UFAs.
My guess is a Gaudreau extension and a trade for a new player.

I was hoping for more like $1M, as he didn't show a great deal last season to warrant much more. However, nothing wrong with this deal at all.
I expect a big jump in play this year. I think that he came in with expectations, and discovered that the jump to the NHL was bigger than he thought. This year he'll be ready for it.

Still lots to prove. Hopefully he can emerge from Sutter's doghouse, stay healthy and be the defenseman his talent hints at.

Ooof.
I figured it'd be closer to 1 million, but I also thought it'd be for just one year.
Just glad he's signed, and hopefully his next one pays him top 4 D money because he has broken out big time.

We just need Dube to take a contract of around negative ten million a year for one year. Tre is the best with negotiating RFAs

Seems like a good deal for that player, Jusso Valimaki. I like his quickness and willingness to jump up in the play.
He's listed at 6'-2" - 212lbs but plays a lot lighter than he looks, I was going to say he could fill out a little bit more.
Maybe the Flames have moved on from Eichel if they were even in on him since they now signed 2 players in the last couple days.

Before they locked up 2 RFAs today they could have landed eichel without giving up roster players. All it means now is they have to acquire Eichel by moving salary cap roster.
So if we were still going to get Eichel it just means one or two other players are moving out. Eg, Monny ,Gaudreau, Tkachuk,Backlund etc etc.
I also think even just getting Tarasenko alone with retained salary would be awesome. So I'm okay with trade scenarios other than Eichel.

not mutually exclusive, they have to fill out the roster, regardless of the Eichel situation
