This is pretty much half way between what the two parties were prepared to table in arbitration. So why bother when it's more or less value you were going to settle on.

I'm a bit surprised the Wild would not want to try and get some term on Fiala as he has emerged as a pretty good offensive player in the past two years. Especially since the next three years they are eating a pretty substantial cap shat sandwich for Suter and Parise.

They likely tried, but couldn’t agree on that number.

I am guessing Fiala is betting on himself to keep improving.
