His family is firmly entrenched in Anaheim and he already has his SC. Players at that stage would rather just play where they are comfortable. Shane Doan did it and he didn't even win a Cup.

Huh... $4.5M is a lot more than I thought he'd get. I thought he was kind of in Spezza/Perry territory at this point.

This is probably just the Ducks keeping him around in the hopes they can trade him at the deadline for something decent while retaining salary.

17 points in 48 games and a new contract at $4.5 million.

Both Brown and Bergeron started their careers in 2003-04. Getzlaf started his career in 2005-06, same as Ovechkin and Crosby.

Brown (13th overall), Getzlaf (19th overall), and Bergeron (45th overall) were all drafted in 2003. So, I guess technically Brown has been with the Kings just slightly longer than Getzlaf has been a Duck.
