This increases the liklihood of Gio getting picked then...though its no surprise either.

Injured 33YO with 52M remaining? No thanks.

I'm not surprised that they passed on Price, but I'm somewhat surprised Cale Fleury is the one that would be chosen.

Lots of good goalies to choose from that are cheaper.

Didn't think they'd take Price.

White-knuckle gamble by the Habs' Marc Bergevin though.

And Drouin? I understand the hesitation, but if they didn’t get at least some additional asset for not picking Price I’d be surprised.

Hm I am surprised. Poor choice ultimately imo, Francis displaying some early contract cowardice that GMGM did not show.

I wonder if they will also take his brother from the ducks. I had heard this from someone who knows the Fleurys months ago but I discounted it as unlikely at best.

Shocking! You mean Seattle was bluffing to try and extract more assets out of another team?

It made for good conversation, but I was amazed how many people legitimately thought taking Price was a good move for Seattle.

It worked for Vegas with MAF because he was 2 years younger, only had 2 years of a $5.75 million AAV contract left, and Pittsburgh paid them a 2nd rounder to free up the cap space.

Price's contract is in my top 5 worst contracts in the NHL right now. And since he needs a good performing backup to limit his regular season games, you're effectively required to tie up $13-14 million in goaltending.

Drouin is rumoured to have some problems away from the rink that a new franchise would most likely avoid.

It would have been a good move for me! Could have sent the Habs into the wilderness for good.

He's also not that good a hockey player.

Yeah Drouin hasn't really lived up to expectations and has a fat contract. Habs probably would have traded him if he had any value
