Glad to hear that he's on the way to returning. One of my favourite players.

Wow....CIRS is one nasty thing to deal with.
Its often contracted by those exposed to black mold.
Hope he comes back stronger and better than ever. Sure is one hell of a player.

Toews is a beast, there is a spot for him on my team. Good to hear that he should be back doing what he was meant to do

Hey Stang, I thought you had it on good authority from your incredible Orange Julius source that he had Lyme disease?

You know that CIRS symptoms and the bodies reaction are essentially the same as Lyme disease right?

Well first you said CIRS is caused by Lyme disease, now you're editing your post to say the body reacts similarly. I am aware of the similarities. They are not the same thing. I found it humorous someone had to be the inside guy on a random forum and still get it wrong.

They are actually pretty close. That’s apparently what they first thought because they are so similar.

I got my info 5 days after he announced he was taking a break. I didn’t get an update on it either.

Sorry that the diagnosis changed in the past 6 months to something very similar.
Definitely wasn’t Orange Julious.

Any idea how close they are to each other? CIRS can be cause by Lyme Disease.
“ You can also get CIRS from common chronic sinus infections with MARCONS and tick borne illnesses like Lyme disease ticks, fish that’s been contaminated with ciguatera, and infections from a brown recluse spider bite. Essentially, CIRS is a dysfunctional reaction of the body’s immune system in response to a biotoxin. In my practice, I’ve seen the symptoms range from manageable to debilitating.”

This isn’t like me saying Lyme disease and then he had a sore back.
Edit: here’s some more
“There are three common ways you can run into CIRS:
Water-damaged building (home or office)
Tick bite-related diseases, such as Lyme disease
Exposure to dinoflagellates (waterborne toxin producers) like Ciguatera or Pfiesteria”

I edited my post to be very specific given someone would get nitpicky.
What you fail to grasp in your eagerness to call someone out is the information was likely accurate at the time it was reported given the difficulty to diagnose and the similarity. There is ambiguity when you start getting into the Chiro world of CIRS is the description of the symptoms of biotoxin exposure which would include Lyme and Mold or if CIRS is specific to Mold. So I don’t think you were aware of the similarities or you wouldn’t have been so flippant.

It’s funny, my first thought when I saw this news was “hey, that post on CP way back was weirdly accurate. Interesting”.
But then I realized it was an oiler fan so lets #### all over him for being miles off base.

I’m mocking the poster who called you out, because it was unnecessary and ridiculous.

My earlier unwarranted crankyness aside, do those not look like some of the quackier medical sites you've seen? It's no fault of your own, the rest look like that too. I wanted to read more about it today and I couldn't find a single hospital, university or any other reputable instution even acknowledging its existence, let alone treating it. Only a brief mention on an Australian .gov site.
Toews is the first high-profile person anywhere in the world I could find who has been publically diagnosed.

Little is known about diseases like Lyme Lupus and CIRS mostly cause these diseases were much rarer or ignored in the past. Now its becoming clearer that all 3 may be related if not by cause.

Reading about CIRS, it sounds like it is incurable and gets progressively worse with age, although it can be somewhat managed with therapy and lifestyle choices. I read that some of the symptoms can even look like Alzheimer's or Parkinson's. Scary stuff.
