Default RW options for next season

As it stands, we currently lack quality and depth on the RW:
Tkachuk (off-wing)
Mangiapane or Dube (off-wing)
Phillips

Maybe we will trade Monahan & Tkachuk, acquire Eichel and Konecny and revamp our top 6, but lets assume we still have gaps on RW that need to be filled by UFA. I don't think we have the budget for a star winger, but more of an energy player that can move up and down the lineup.

What UFA options do you think could be a good fit and at what price?
(I am well aware of Treliving's UFA history)

-After these playoffs I am definitely interested in what Blake Coleman brings to the table. He doesn't have a lot of miles, can score 20 goals in the right situation, and can compliment higher profile players in the top 6. 4 years at $3.5M per?

-What about Joel Armia? Bigger body who is closer to a 15 goal scorer in the right situation. 3 years at $3.3 per?

Who else could be a good option?

Like both those options if the price is right.

Also would consider trading for Fillip Forsberg if he’s available and could be acquired in a hockey trade that involves Monahan+.

I suspect Brett Ritchie will be back, and I'm actually OK with that. He seemed to pick up a lot after Sutter took over. I realize that doesn't solve the fact that we will lack a natural and bona fide top line RW.

If we are going to get one, then I think it has to be through trade. None of the RW free agents look all that exciting. Armia would be a good addition, but I wouldn't count on top 6 production. Konecny would be an intriguing player to add.

I have a feeling Reinhart could be the guy acquired. I wouldn't be shocked if Tom Wilson is on the radar, as gross as that thought is.

Why wouldn't Armia sign in Montreal for that value?

What about Monahan for Alex Tuch?

Vegas has a need up the middle and the Flames have a need on right wing?

and then who plays center for the Flames?

If Monahan is going to be traded a bonified top 2 center needs to be in the return.

If/when Monahan goes, the Flames have only two signed centers on the main roster. You're either banking on signing a 3rd line C or that Ruzicka and another Center (Gawdin?) are ready. Seems pretty risky, even for me who thinks we need to let more young players have full time spots.

Lindholm-Backlund-Dube could be the top 3?

Dube was a center in junior. Flames could also make another move for a different middle 6 center? Flames almost traded Monahan for Anderson last year so it appears they have had interest in moving him for a big body RW in the past

Or you move Dube back to his natural spot?

Kyrou and Tarasenko via trade?

Gaudreau - Lindholm - Tarasenko
Mangiapane - Monahan - Kyrou

I don't think 32 year old Backlund is a qualified number 2 center anymore.

Rakell is a player I find quite interesting, and he only has 1 year left @ $3.8M. I wonder what it would take to bring him over. I really like his hands, but I haven't seen much of him this season, so I am basing a lot on previous seasons.

Exactly, we need to make sure we don't lose depth at center at the expense of upgrading RW. Once the Kraken draft is over we'll know if Backlund/Gio/someone else is taken which will help the Flames know how much cap room they have available.

Who cares who plays on RW. They need to rebuild. UFA's wont play on this team and everything until then is just extending the wait time to be a real contender.

Honestly, if you want to look at long term solutions, I would get on the phone with Yzerman. Offer Monahan and Kylington for Namestnikov and Jonatan Berggren.

They both play centre and off-wing RW. So it doesn't solve the natural RHRW problem, but Namestnikov competes every single night and Berggren has the potential to explode.

Monahan slots after Larkin, which is an area of concern for the Wings. Kylington gets his shot and has middle pair/power play written all over him.

Potential win/win.

Would anyone trade for Tyler Johnson if the Bolts retained 2 million? He’s not been good but he’s also scored in the past. He has a pretty weak NTC.
