Icon60 Tampa Bay Lightning Threaten to Kick Out 11 Year Old for Wearing and Panthers Jersey

What an absolute joke of an organization the Lightning are. This is simply despicable. Screw the Lightning and this dumb policy.

Edit: sorry for the Typo in thread title.

Wow! I hope this generates enough negative attention. Good opportunity for the Panthers to step up and do something cool for their loyal fans who were mistreated in another club's building. I sense some player meetings and autographs coming for this 11 year old.

WTF? Can you imagine if the Flames had this policy for games at the 'Dome? When the Habs or Leafs come to town, half of the arena would be kicked out, lol. Hard to believe this is an actual policy in Tampa. That's insane.

We’d only have half a stadium full every game.

Apparently this has been a thing for many years and is well documented but is still somewhat under wraps.

It’s for people seated in certain sections of the arena so there is certain people allowed to wear opposing jerseys.

It’s a load of crap indeed.

Heard from some TBL fans on Reddit about this already.

Leave it to the NHL and specifically sun belt American teams to come up with this style of garbage. You get a solid match up of two Florida teams who could do some damage in the playoffs and this is how they are treating rival fans and in this case, children? My god.

I have been to games in Calgary with friends from soccer loving nations in Europe that are just shocked we allow other teams sweaters in the stand. I will never forget the look on a friends face when sitting in the club seats, some Edmonton fan's wearing their jerseys got food and drinks brought to them. He was stunned. He couldn't believe it but I told him we gotta show the hospitality cause we expect it in return.

Either way a bad bad look!

No surprise was in Florida 3 years ago for game 5 vs Caps. They wouldn't sell me a ticket because I wouldn't sign a form saying I would not wear red to the game. Was like da heck is this?!?

So phoned my cousin to TO works at NHL office she sent me 2 tickets strolled up to ticket line in flames jersey picked up tickets.

Just more reason to hate this franchise.

My best friend who's an Oilers fan is also a friend of one Doc Seaman's grandkids and when we were in college he sat in the owner's box at the Dome in an Oil jersey a few games.

If NHL owners are gracious enough, these fools should be. (edit: Mind you, 2003 BOAs were pretty blah)

To be charitable, I'm guessing they instituted this policy to prevent confrontations between rival fans. Has there been instances of this in Tampa as far as anyone knows?
