The mayoral city race is going to heat up pretty soon. I'm a bit sad, although I didn't agree with everything he did, I think he was an incredible ambassador for Calgary.
I guess it was always coming that this city would go back to our developers and business community having a mayor in their pockets. Very few cities can successfully avoid that for too long.
I have been riding such a high today, with some good news on the COVID front, but boy, this saddens me. He's had some wobbles, but he's a good man and he did a lot for Calgary.
My favourite Nenshi moment was the leadership he displayed after he forgot to turn off simcity's Expert mode in 2013. Calgary felt like a small town rallying to help each other.

We were lucky to have Nenshi as a mayor, especially considering who we could have ended up in each of the past elections in which he won.

Maybe we should put together a thread profiling what each of the current candidates stand for. As of right now, you only hear about Gondek, Farkas, and Johnston (lol).
From what I know of the current crop, Gondek is the front-runner for my vote.

Great mayor, very curious to see what he does next.
Can't really see him running on an NDP ticket provincially. To me, he's got a larger profile than Notley and unless she's going to step aside to let him run the party (very doubtful) I don't see him playing second fiddle.
Running with the Libs federally would be interesting, but is there even any guarantee he would win a seat in Calgary? Same goes for NDP feds.
That's unfortunate because looking over the list of people that are running is very uninspiring

Alberta Party really needs some direction, they haven't picked a new leader yet and their leadership election will be this October. A Centrist party would fit Nenshi really well.
It's a shame Mandell took over when he did, that party had real promise with Greg Clark
