Hall with a nasty puck to the face. Sabres tough season just keeps getting worse.

Rieder with his 5th goal of the season in the sabres-devils gMe. First goal for the sabres in 177+ minutes apparently.

Ovechkin with his 1300th point on an assist. Caps up 1-0.

Ovechkin with goal #718. Moves past Esposito on the all time list. He has scored in four straight games too. Sole position of 6th all time. Next up is Dionne at 731

Edit: He also moves past Iginla for 34th overall in points with 1301

The greatest goal scorer of all time. It’s been a pleasure watching his full career unfold. Ovechkin and Marleau are the only active players in the top 25 goals all time and Ovi has like 150 more goals in like 600 less games.

Also considering the fact that he has so far lost a season and half to lockouts, part of last year and a shortened year this year due to covid, he could have been much closer to 800 already at this point.

Textbook open ice - and clean - hit on Jared Tinordi by Brandon Tanev. Can't see how that's even a minor, forget about a major. What a ####ing joke.

Tanev boarded Tinordi in the Bruins and Pens game. An incredible hit but Tinordi hit his neck/back on the boards and lost consciousness. Not predatory like the hit on Kylington but the referees talked about it and gave Tanev 5 and a game. Those Tanev's are tough sob's.

I liked the Tanev hit, it was just a really bad result. Pretty tough to get a major from that.

I don’t know. Tinordi was vulnerable, had his weight on his shooting leg, and that spot about 5 feet from the boards is not where you want to make that hit with full force.

That’s about Tanev’s decision making.

Probably not suspendable but a boarding major fits

Tough to call that a MINOR if you judge based on action not outcome

According to the NHL that is a major and Khaira’s hit isn’t even a minor and that is the problem

If that is too close to the boards to make a hit then it’s officially a no contact league during zone entries

? You missed the most important word

You can make a hit at that distance from the boards

Not *that* hit

Just not to a vulnerable player on his outside leg, and directing him in to the boards

Freeze the vid right before impact and ask yourself what you think is going to happen next. It’s pretty obvious
