What ever happened to in-game out-of-town updates?
You'd think with technology today this wouldn't go backwards. Yesterday Montreal-Calgary and Winnipeg-Toronto played at the same time, plus other NHL games. Why are there not in game updates anymore?

Great question. I really miss them. They added a lot to the atmosphere of the game.

Seems that way now. I change the channel as soon as the intermission starts. I love the game but I can't stand the canned chit- chat that the producers feel we need to hear about it. I'd rather see more content from the other games around the league and not have to watch it on the 5" screen on my phone.
It could be due to the fact that there are no fans attending the games live because of COVID, its easier to check other game updates if your stuck at home.
Meh. If they did that we’d just complain that they were talking about Edmonton or Toronto again.
People lose their collective #### if Cassie Campbell talks about the opposition. Can you imagine a GT where she talks about a team not even playing in the game?

When that complaint comes up I’m reminded of HFOil - they constantly complained Drew Remeda always overpraised the opposition, while we always said the opposite.

In the past they would never do that. After the update they would just say Thanks Scott and move on. 1:28 and 2:19 in the video.
Updates would reduce Cassie's air time.

That was a trip down memory lane. Me as a kid at my Grandmas watching playoff hockey and looking forward to the out of town update. It completely teleported me back to the late 80s.
On another angle, I can vividly remember it was always the Whalers for some reason that were part of the update and them losing. Seems that clip is burned in my mind.
