Default Countertop Replacement - On the cheap

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a company to replace some bathroom and kitchen countertops. It's for a senior living condo, Nana just moved into assisted living so it's time to clean her place up a little to make it more presentable for sale. So price being on the lower end of things is what we are looking for.

Thanks for any help!

Depends on a lot on who your market for sale is. If it's a non-luxury condo, I'd probably just go prefab. The quality of that stuff has improved immensely lately. If you want to sell higher end, you're going to need higher end and trendier stuff. What's the likely purpose of the condo once it's sold, rental, senior living, families, etc...?

I'm all for quality, but IMO people spend far too much on kitchens and bathrooms. They are going to look outdated in 15 years no matter what you do. So unless you're going for some kind of classic highest end design, you're better off just getting the pre-fab.

Definitely not higher end. This is for a seniors complex and the condo might be worth 175K. This will be a condo for another little old lady to move into. We just want it cleaned up a bit for it gets listed for sale, our Nana had a habit of placing hot pots and pans on the counters and leaving burn marks over them!

I haven't personally used Ikea but I have heard good things about their countertop service. They are reasonably priced from what I have seen. Ikea basically has a few contracts with companies in Calgary and they sub out the work.

Why not spend like a couple hundred bucks and do a countertop refurb kit to hide unsightly burn marks and whatnot.

As part of the sale, state that you know the unit could use a little bit of updating and you're willing to toss in an amount as a discount (or already built into negotiation price) so that the purchaser can do those things themselves? That way they can choose the color, quality etc. that they want vs settling on whatever thing you shove in there.
