St Louis surrenders and starts making changes

The Blue's were busy overnight as GM CaptainCrunch finally threw in the towel last night. With the Playoffs an extremely faint hope, the often impatient GM made several trades to look to the future.
The first trade had dependable center Nick Bonino head to the Florida Panthers with a 5th round pick in exchange for Mason Appleton.
"We liked this trade, it gets us younger and faster. Mason was with us at the start of the year and struggled to find his place, but we think he has decent upside for the future and he'll get a chance to play and expanded role here. This wasn't an easy trade for us to make because we really like and respect Nick, but we're hoping he gets a chance at great things in Florida."
Late last night the Blue's made a seismic trade. Moving out veterean blueliner Scott Mayfield and goalie Tristan Jarry to the Caps with prospect Amir Miftakhov. In return they received goalie Casey Desmith, prospect Filip Johansson, Philly's 1st round pick in 2021 and a first owed to us by the NYI (pick 26) in 2021.
"This was another tough one, we love Scott, he's a warrior and has done great work for us on both sides of the puck, and Jarry is a good young goalie, but this is really 2 first round picks this year as well as a good young fairly highly rated prospect. If we're going to rebuild, we're going to rebuild" stated Crunch
Then this morning a shocker as the Sharks and Blue's got together for a quick deal as Gabriel Landeskog the teams leading scorer was moved to the Sharks in a one for one deal for John Tavares. Tavares is out for the season with a foot injury, but should help the Blue's next year.
"Again another trade that I was iffy on doing, but we're looking at next year and building through the middle and John offers first line center capability."
CaptainCrunch was introspective. "This first year has been a struggle. We were awful in the first half of the year, then we picked it up and were blazing hot, but a combination of injuries and maybe a badly constructed team had the wheels fall off in the end, that's on me, I won't talk about coaching besides we'll be evaluating in the off season and being extremely aggressive on icing a competitive team next year."
