Wow! I thought Burke had repeatedly said he was done on that side of the NHL ledger. That's something.

Also, what a surly management group lol

Uhhh....

The Pens are hiring a Lifetime-Flyer? That seems odd.

I cant imagine what lunch with Burke and Hextall would be like. I pity their waiter.

Someone mentioned his dad was a part of the Pens organization and he lived in Pittsburgh as a kid for 5 years.

Seems like the Penguins like the old school style of management.

Also, Burkie mentioned he likes Sam Bennett and even prior to this Pens were one of the rumored interested teams. Does Burkie strongly suggest to Hextall to make the deal?

Surprised Burke got tired of the media gig this quickly. He was a good flame when he was here. I wonder if he really wanted to move on at the end of the day? Pitt is closer to Toronto where he lives and maybe he just got the itch again after being out of the league for a couple years?

Could be a really good combo for the Pens. All the best to Burkie, I'll miss him on the panels and sports talk shows.

Gotta figure Hexy must have slashed Mario a bunch of times, time heals all wounds I guess.

As far as hirings go, this seems pretty fool-proof.

I wanted Hextall for the Flames, he drafted some pretty good young players for the Flyers

Burke in his book that just came out: I'm done being a front office guy. I love being at home in my own bed and the city of Toronto loves me.

Also Burke: Crosby you say?

Burke in this off-season:

Quote:
It is the same thing Jimmy Rutherford is saying in Pittsburgh ‘I’ve got two elite players we’re not going to a total rebuild were gonna try and win.’ I don’t think Pittsburgh is good enough to win. No matter what they do now with their cap situation I think that window has closed, for me. I love Jimmy Rutherford, you know that, but I look in the East and I say are they better than Tampa? Nope. Are they better than Washington? Nope. Are they better than Boston? Nope.

Good for him. I guess he still has that competitive itch after all. I have always liked the Pens ever since Bob Johnson went there, so I hope that Burke can help guide that team towards whatever it is that they should be (tough to go in any direction there right now).

I will miss Burke's segments. He really did become one of the better personalities for me.

Maybe Burke saw the cuts at Bell, and thought he better get a new job before the axe fell on him. After all, money must be tight these days for him

I really enjoyed listening to Burke on HNIC. That’s a big loss for them.
