I am pretty low on Gawdin but with the way the 4th line looks it'd be fun to watch him play a few games.

I don't know if Gawdin is the answer, but the 4th line needs a C.

Nordstrom - ??? - Leivo

add a decent C and that'll be more than adequate

(Ryan is more than fine, but he'll be out for quite a while yet)

Happy for Gawdin. Ward did mention that both Froese and Gawdin will be getting looks. Won’t be surprised to see Gawdin dress against the Canucks in one of the four games coming up.

Tough to scratch Froese after scoring a goal last game. I'm fine with getting Gawdin some looks, but I'd leave all 4 lines alone for next game. If Froese struggles a bit tomorrow then go for it.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is what they do

Yeah that’s fair. Definitely not the first game or two. In the taxi squad, he will get used to the way the team plays in any case.

now that Stockton is playing out of Calgary, what is the difference between being on the taxi squad versus being on the Heat? Can taxi squad players play or practice with the Heat, or are they practicing with the Flames and kept separate from the Heat players?

I think that's the distinction, taxi squad players can only practice with the NHL team if I'm not mistaken.

It is to be noted that Gawdin can also play RW and did so a bit in Junior.

I agree, I'd be more inclined to out him on a line with Gladwin and Ritchie myself

Maybe Leivo - Froese - Gawdin is the answer.

Nordstrom is generally pretty ineffective. Ritchie shouldn't be anywhere near the team, IMO.

I think they like his PK abilities too much to bench him most nights..

NHL roster: NHL salary, NHL per-diem
Taxi squad: full AHL salary (if on two-way), NHL per-diem, can practice with NHL team
AHL roster: pro-rated AHL salary (if on two-way), AHL per-diem, can't practice with NHL team

CP: Where 4th line centers need to be 20-goal scorers or Selke candidates.

Gawdin will chew up minutes without making mistakes, won’t get severely outclassed when mismatched, is feisty and plays with energy and hates losing. He’s also led teams to championships and may even chip in six or seven goals along the way.

If allowed to develop at the NHL level for a couple seasons, this guy will become the second coming of Stephane Yelle.

(This is all my own opinion, of course. 100% not based on science of any type.)

Freeway, do you happen to know how much the nhl per diem is vs the ahl per diem? I am just curious.

Have you seen him play or been following his career extensively?

Just wondering why you are so high in him?

He's shown improvement each year in the AHL. Was even on a ppg pace until a dip before the lockdown happened.

He's not the second coming, but he's a young guy whos known to be a good two-way player and could possibly contribute in a bottom six role.

As previously stated he has good size and 'energy' for the 4th line as well.

Fair enough..

I’m not high on him or Phillips but to be fair I haven’t watched enough of them to have a fair assessment.

For me Ruzicka seems like the guy who can contribute with both size and skill in the near future.
