Would prefer him dressed over Rinaldo TBH, so good he got called up. Can he play center?

I don’t believe so

I wouldn’t mind them putting Nordstrom at center though, he spent his first half of his career as a centre and also was a centre before the NHL

He's fairly decent at the art of face-punching.

Froese was assigned to AHL yesterday. Rinaldo was assigned to Taxi.

His track record suggests he brings a little more offence than Rinaldo. When you look at his production in the AHL and the 16 goal season he had with the Stars he's produced at a level Rinaldo never has at pro level, but I've never looked at their defensive stats. And Rinaldo never really seems to have the chance to get involved physically these days either so will be interesting to see if Ritchie has a little more vinegar to him.

I know the analytics crowd would hate it but I would absolutely love to see a

Rinaldo-Robinson-Ritchie

line for one of the BOAs this year out there

I'm going to go with a wild guess that Bennett starts as 4LC tomorrow with Ritchie on his wing and we continue to scratch our collective heads at overall usage.

I'll hope that Ward has turned a corner, and will make logical use of his players from now on.

Well alright then. I'll hold off on my Bennett at C prediction. For now.

Still drives me crazy that with a long term injury to Ryan they called up Froese instead of Gawdin.

I get it for one game, but when it's an extended opening give the younger guy a look.

On the radio this morning, Ward was mentioning that he would be looking at both Froese and Gawdin filling in while Ryan is out.

Back on topic, I'm not sure I understand why they would recall Ritchie on a non-game day wrt cap considerations. Ryan is not out for the rest of the season so I don't know that they gain by trying to maximize cap while he is on LTIR. Can one of the cap gurus chime in on this?

that could be G-R-R-R-E-A-T! (think tony the tiger)

my 'all time wish' for line mates was when burrows and byron bitz both played for the canucks... they would be forever known as the 'bitz and bites' line!

Doesn’t Ryan get paper-transacted to the taxi squad still on non-game days?

They want him to practice with the main squad.

Thanks. I guess I forgot, or never knew, that they couldn't practice with the main squad if they were on the taxi squad. So I guess Ryan hasn't been practicing with the main squad this season. Also, weird that Bennett was permitted to workout with the taxi squad last week.

I don't see anything in the taxi squad rules prohibiting the taxi squad from practicing with the team. I can see why a coach would do it if he wants to be efficient with ice time and reps.

Thing is, though, neither Froese nor Ritchie were on the taxi squad. They were "called up" right from the AHL.
