Flames played a solid 20 minutes in the third.

Rittich shook off the rust a bit but a couple of those first goals were not the best.

No time to think about it. Beat the Jets Thursday then cream the Oilers on Saturday.

Have to stop with the 1st period gaffes. If they can kick the habit, this team has the potential to be great.

scored 3 goals yesterday, got it to OT
scored 2 goals today, didn't get it to OT

Offense continues to be a struggle for this team outside the PP. And the PP is starting to cool off too.

I don't think our defensemen get enough pucks through.

Bad starts are killing this team, that is coaching or leadership. Seems to be a lack of commitment to playing a full 60 mins

Rittich lost his net on goals 2 and 3.

Flames overall played well in the 1st IMO despite the goals against, were flat in the 2nd, and were pretty great in the 3rd.

Monahan was fantastic, Tkachuk obviously got both goals and was involved positively again, but while Gaudreau got the assist to extend his streak I thought this was maybe his quietest game. Almost every pass he tried seemed to be in skates, or turned over.

That all being said, if Dube could have finished the breakaway or the earlier Grade A chance, or Ryan on his breakaway off the nice passing by Nordstrom and Lucic, or Johnny in the dying seconds...

Ah well.

Do we see Brossoit vs Markstrom Thursday?

Glad Rittich shook off the rust, but Ward again with some just dumb decisions.

There is too much parity in this league to be rolling with a coach who can't get it done.

I should add, Rittich was great in the 2nd and 3rd.

Just a rough 1st.

I dont know if its just my general burnout from, well, everything, but this team doesn't inspire me. I dont find myself cheering for goals or getting heated for bad calls. Just a generalized blah towards this iteration

Accidentally posted this in the GT:
Jets did a really good job pressuring our defence and taking away time when we were in their zone. It really disrupted our ability to set up in the zone for sustained pressure, plus it primed them for odd-man rushes when one of our d coughed up the puck.
Literally every time the puck was at the point, they had a forward busting their ass out to the point to challenge.

It bugs me that Ward either doesn't notice these things, or he refuses to adapt his game plan to respond.

Well, at least we likely won’t see Rittich start again until the 20th.

I like Big save Dave, but he’s absolutely brutal right now.

Are any of our Goalie prospects even remotely ready to be better than Rittich at this point? Goalies are voodoo, so I guess you never know.

The Flames had the better scoring chances in this game. Couldn't finish. Which means you need great goaltending. Didn't get it.

Monahan was great. I thought Backlund was better in the 3rd (after being bad early)

We simply can't have Lucic gifting teams goals every 3rd game.
