Default Panel of GMs and coaches rates all 31 starters

It's an article from The Athletic....paywall and all that.

Markstrom comes in the 2nd tier at #5 overall.

Oh and for those wondering

Holtby ties for 19th

Koskinen ties for 27th

Talbot ranked 25th

Demko has started 37 games over 3 seasons. He has not established himself as a starter yet. Not even close. No doubt Vancouver fans are expecting him to take over the starter's job this year, but until that actually happens, it hasn't.

Last year, Koskinen started 38 games and Smith 39, so it's a tough call. But they have to pick one.

No matter who you call the starters though, both Edmonton and Vancouver are no good.

At this point, if you are an oiler fan, you have to hope that Koskinen is able to wrestle the starting job from Smith. If that doesn't happen, you can officially write off another Oilers season.

Plus I looked into Demko's success against degree of opponent and he really struggled against elite teams.

If I'm a Vancouver fan though I'm looking at the playoffs as a very good sign ... but I agree with you, the sample size of four games is certainly small if 10 games is irrelevant for Bennett.

I am betting that before the end of the season, it will be Koskinen and Forsberg as the #1 and #2, with Smith on the taxi squad.

Next season, actually.

I'm expecting split duty this season.
