Finland and Sweden should be a great game. Looking forward to what Zary can do in the middle if Newhook can not go.
Prediction;
Zary 2g + 1A
Pelletier 1G + 1A
Kuznestov 2A
Wolf replaces Knight after poor first and the Americans come back from being down 3-0 early.
Sweden bests Finland
Go Canada Go!!!

I wonder how big today's 50/50 will be? On NYE, the winner's share was $3.8 million (and still unclaimed, so check your tickets).

I am pretty excited about this first game. I love watching Stutzle play, and I get to see more of Yan Kuznetsov.

Is this correct? Why is Russia playing Germany? Or do they only get reseeded after this round?

Yes, the quarterfinals do the Group crossover with 1A vs 4B, 2A vs 3B, 1B vs 4A, and 2B vs 3A. Then, they re-seed for the semifinals.
For the re-seed, the first criteria is placement in the group standings and the second is points in the preliminary round. This year, that's as far as they need to go, but beyond that it would be goal differential in the preliminary round, followed by total goals in the preliminary round, and if there's still a tie at that point, it reverts to the pre-tournament seeding.

I'm watching this really good feature on Tim Stutzle's draft selection, and I see this guy wearing a Flames hat at his draft party in Germany. I had to rewind it a few times before figuring out that it's David Wolf. Awesome!

Yeah, it's from a German documentary following Stützle for the 24 hours leading up to his draft. Wolf and Stützle were teammates in Mannheim and Stützle shared how Wolf really took him under his wing and that he spent a lot of time with Wolf and his wife.
So, the hat thing came about from the fact that all the top prospects received a hat for each NHL team so they would potentially have something to put on for each team once they were drafted. Once Stützle got picked by Ottawa, Wolf put the Flames hat on.

Kuznetsov got a hard and accurate shot through while killing a penalty.
Russia has dominated possession but it is still only 1-0. That must be unsettling.

...and now Kuznetsov just crushed a German forward who was streaking into the zone. Nice.

Kuznetsov looks really solid again. He sticks to his check really well and has great defensive presence.
