2019-2020 Stats:
In 52 games: 8 goals + 4 assists = 12 points, 101 hits.
In 10 playoff games: 5 goals + 3 assists = 8 points, 54 hits (with a torn triceps)
Yes, everybody's least favourite discussion point... Sam Bennett. Personally, the chemistry shown between Bennett and Dube during the season in a couple short stints due to a Derek Ryan injury and again in the playoffs (video coming soon), I think they need to be a set pairing this season. Whether the 3rd on the line is Lucic again, or Leivo/Simon/Mangiapane/whoever, I'm not sure. But I really want to see Dube and Bennett given a long look together.
Playoff Sam Bennett will be done in a few days, and then I'll do either Gaudreau or Monahan.
Sammy boy! I don't care what the haters say or think, Bennett can play on my team any time.
I still believe in his talent. I agree with the chemistry with Dubé (and Lucic), they are both powerful and explosive athletes and complement each other well.
Just plays the game hard and I love to see it. Helluva player!

I am absolutely a Bennett fan. To be honest it goes beyond logic.
That age old gif of him in the dome reacting to the sea of red first time where you can read his lips "this is sick!" Won me over.
He's a late bloomer, but we're going to be so stoked he's still on this team.

From watching that I think we've seen the breakout happen already and I think the points will catch up with it this year.
First half of the video was just some isolated hits and some garbage goals but you can literally see his confidence growing throughout the video. And in the second half, his hits start leading to more chances and you start to see him making some actual high skill plays.
I think his confidence grew substantially throughout the year last year and peaked in the playoffs but even if we get second half of the year Bennett with some playoff Bennett sprinkled in I don't think 40 points is out of the question.
Plus the Canadian division is going to do wonders for him. With around 10 games each against Oilers, Canucks and Jets we will be seeing a lot of high intensity Bennett this year.
Bennett being free from Jankowski is going to do wonders for his game. Pairing the most intense player with the least intense player on the team made no sense.

Yeah the playoff C of Red in full hype mode is something legendary to behold.
Burke talked about it in his book, mentioned that he's been in buildings where the Cup was won at home, but it was only in the Dome during a huge playoff moment that he had to yell to be heard by his closest neighbours.

This video shows Bennett's maturation last season. Intrigued to see what he brings in the next!
(Sorry for the cheap plug here for one of my current faves, but the vid also shows how smart Derek Ryan is...two quick examples: "holding the stick but not really" on Makar for Gio's goal and that sick pass back to Bennett against Columbus. Both deliberate plays, both plays you have to watch and re-watch to fully appreciate!)
I give you credit AC, you combed through a season's worth of shifts and managed to come up with every bump and grind from a disaster of a season and turn it into a "highlight" reel. Fantastic work as usual and the effort was Herculean. This could have been compressed down to a TikTok video, that's how bad his regular season performance was. What I got from this video is Bennett is only as good as his linemates and the amount of work they are willing to do. Bennett is still the most frustrating player I've seen in a Flames uniform, and that includes the likes of Nilsson, Tanguay, Ranheim, and Huselius.
