Le sigh. So much for actually giving opportunity to younger players.

Please don't re-sign . I'm quite happy with what the Flames have right now.

I think Nesterov can and will do better than Hammer ever did as a Flame.

Honestly I would much rather they give Kylington the opportunity to be an everyday NHL player.

I don't know, if Hammer can regain his form on a show me deal that is some sick depth we have on D.

I'd take Hammer back on an inexpensive 1-year contract.

High quality person who I could see being effective on the 3rd pairing. It would also possibly help us stay clear of our typical 3rd or 4th round pick going out the door at the deadline for a Travis Hamonic-type.

*quietly hoping for a deal involving Monahan, Hanifin and Barkov*...

I would definitely take him on a cheap, show-me deal. Then trade him at the deadline for assets.

if this is the direction, I would much rather sign Vatanen for 1 year.

Splitting number 6-7 duty would be fine with me for cheap. Injuries so happen. As long as we never see a Hanifin Hamonic pairing again.

At this point he’s a #5-6 guy. If it’s for a year then I see no problems with it. You could even flip him at the deadline if Kylington overtakes him.

Anything over a 1 year deal and I’m out.

Not interested. I like the idea of depth but I also know the way NHL head coaches think as most of them overvalue experience. He would end up on the 2nd pairing again tanking his partner as he's done most of his time as a Flame. I would rather he goes to the Canucks so the Flames could exploit him.

$1 million or less.

Perhaps this is just pressure to get Kylington to sign.

Theres an ocean of defensemen they could sign on the cheap over Hammer in the fa market. Id honestly take almost any one of them over bringing Hammer back.

Would rather see the money going to Kylington, Vatanen, Granlund or Haula. Even at a league minimum I just don't see it helping.

Also kinda surprised he is looking to sign considering he didn't play last year in the bubble because of his family members health. Maybe he will because of the high probability of players being vaccinated?

If it's a cheap 1M ish deal then he would be great as a #7 who can fill in if Kylington struggles. My concern (as others) is that he would get played as a #4 or that his presence would mean that Kylington doesn't get a real chance. Not likely we can flip him at the deadline for much since he will surely insist on trade protection. Unless they can flip him to VAN, EDM, WPG or TOR I suppose. If we end up with a Canadian division that probably won't be a desirable way to go.

Hamonic was replacement level last season and likely will be worse this season.

Rumours like this make you scratch your head.
