Why would you sign Zac Rinaldo but not Tobias Rieder?
It's interesting that Rinaldo has a 2-way contract while Robinson has a 1-way contract.

Froese is a good AHLer to have.
Hopefully Rinaldo hardly sees a minute of NHL action. He's a 13th forward at best.

$725K AAV on the 2 year deal is a two year, league-minimum signing as this year's minimum is $700K, but next year's minimum is $750K
|

Maybe Tobi wanted more ice-time somewhere else. He'll probably play every game on Buffalo's third line or something.

You beat me to it. Good in his role as a 13/14 forward, but more importantly amazing in the locker room.
That junior crap him and Lucic had been pulling during the year just had me in stitches. Dying their hair bleach blonde then skating the red line together in warmups just staring down the other team, that's great stuff

I'm guessing Rieder probably wanted to go a team where he'd have a better chance of being in the lineup every game.
Our 4th line will probably have at least two of Ryan/Gawdin/Robinson.

Well, partly because Rinaldo would accept 2 way I guess.
Their per game points production is actually quite similar. Obviously Reider brings the defensive game and Rinaldo brings the mitts.

Rieder likely would have been an everyday player here but the odds of him getting more than 4th line minutes are next to none.

The player has to want to sign too. Maybe Rieder just wanted play in the east.
He played his junior in Kitchener and that's where he met his girlfriend, so it might be as simple as wanting to be closer to home for her.
Also, games in the Eastern Time Zone start at midnight in Germany rather than 2 or 3 AM like Pacific and Mountain games do. So, it would be easier for his family to watch him play.

Unlikely. Froese was Stockton's captain last season, so I'd expect they're bringing him back to fill that role again.
