Default Cell phone just died...

Yeah so uh I opened up my phone here and all of a sudden the screen went black and now it won't turn on or anything.. It's a Motorola T720. Anyone here have any clues as to what happened?

I think it's pretty clear what happend.
Your phone hates you, and it killed itself.
Damn Kermit, why can't you be nicer to your things. This is just like what happened to your pet bunny.

Was it in an area of excessive heat/cold for an extended period of time?

You're an engineer, so I have to ask: have you charged the battery?

As soon as I go home I'm going to try my fresh battery.. last indication was that the battery still had a decent charge..

I did wash a cell phone once.. while it was on.. still worked too for a few months.

am I the only one in Calgary that doesn't own a cell phone? Sadly, I'll be leaving that club soon as I want to get one so my wife can call me if she goes into labour while I'm not around.

Hey, we're in the same club! I don't have a cel phone either. Sometimes it would be nice to have but I don't want people to be able to reach me all the time.

You might be the only one in Calgary, but not in NA.

A year ago when i was working for the team, that fataing thing NEVER stopped going off. The last time i had possesion of it, I was driving down I-40, a pretty major intersate down here, and it rang at 11:30 PM for about the 100th time that day. It quickly went out my window at 80 MPH and it is now worm food.

When asked what happened i said it went missing during a team function and , no, I didnt want a replacement model.

I absoltely hate those things with a passion.

Nope. I've been anti-cell phone for years now.

Will also have to get one sooner or later though, gotta keep in touch with people and can't always be at home to take calls. Oh well, it was a good run.

That's what I used to think until I read this. Thank goodness there are some of you out there. Nowadays, you go out and see 13 and 14 year olds with them.

Not in Calgary, but I don't own a cell phone. Although it looks like I'll be getting one after Christmas at some point. Can you still get a cell phone that just rings? I don't want to hear the He-Man theme when I get a call, or for it to take pictures or play mp3's.

Well it just needed the battery to be changed.. which was weird because there was no indication that it was dead before the thing just shut off..

Do you often turn your phone off? Do you charge it when it's on or off? Do you let it drain first before charging? (I know it's not supposed to affect the life of the battery, but it still does.)

The only time I ever turn my phone off is when I change the battery. I've got two batteries that I use since Motorolla makes such ****ty chargers. I've got a base-station that I plug the extra battery into to charge and usually wait until my battery is about dead before changing.. I'm ana electrical engineer so I do know things about lithium ion batteries and how the DO develop memories if you don't drain and charge them correctly. The only ones that I'm aware of that don't do that are Ni-Mh.

Was it hot then? Sometimes they overheat and do that. I know my battery just had a coniption like that too, and told me it was more full than it was and wouldn't let me take any calls or make any calls.

I cant live without a cell phone, and i dont know how anyone in this day and age would want to take the chance of being without a phone in case of emergency.
