My general approach on condition picks is as follows
- Make the pick mid round. So for instance top 14, which is mid round for our drat given less teams. To your point, if you specify any number, assume you are getting a pick right around there
- Make sure the timeline is very clear. Don't make a condition like "ASAP" as that just creates problems
- To your point, don't assume the GM will trade you the first pick they get, unless you specify that.
Basically above all else be as clear as possible in what the condition is.
