Ryan Johansen....you're fired!

The Ducks have made another move today. The deal breaks down as follows

Ryan Johansen

TO DUCKS
Luke Kunin
2nd (ARZ) 21'

After looking at the Ducks roster, we realized we needed to make another move. Johansen would be making 5M playing on the 3rd line...that just isn't money well spent.

Our target guy to move was Johansen, so off he went. He had an off year this year but will be up for a good contract and is still the #1 centre for the Preds so should rebound. He is after all, only 26.

Kunin is a guy we like. In his first full year he performed well in 3rd line duties and with more icetime should continue to grow and perform. His rerate should also be a reasonable 3rd line rating...more in line with his salary.

The deal also saves us probably $4M, so it gives us some flexibility heading into re-rates and UFA. I don't like being right up against it out of the gates.

Thanks flambers for the deal...we went back and forth on a few ideas over the last few weeks and finally found a good fit.

nice trade fellas. Johansen has fallen a bit but he could easily rebound at his age.

Kunin is a guy I really like, too. Add in the 2nd and it seems like a fair trade.

Ducks did tremendously here IMO

Kunin is going to be Minnesota's 1C for quite a while from my vantage point
