There's a good reason why Backlund and Giordano have been kept around as long as they have been.
They're also both pretty good at hockey.

Gio is amazing and the Flames are lucky to have him on the team and in the community...It's pretty awesome that he's doing this and he probably didn't want to make a big deal out of this. He just seems like the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off of his back if you were in need.

I always have a bit of skepticism with these things (not toward the Giordanos, more the post itself) - I guess the social media era has done that - but CBC picked up on it with a quote from the Giordanos verifying its authenticity. Amazing family, and Mark's wife, Lauren, deserves a lot of applause for this as well as a ton of unpublicized work I know she has been part of.
