Ducks like Kahk

The latest deal saw young goalie Kahkonen to the Ducks. The deal broke down as follows

TO FLAMES
Pick 27 in 20' draft
Jeff Carter and his $3.75M contract for this year and next

TO DUCKS
Kahkonen
2nd (DAL) 21'

We like Kahkonen as a future goalie (even though they are so hard to get right), and he did have 5 GP so we hope he has even a modest to low rating so he can be a cheap backup at $0.5M. We get a 2nd next year and free up all important Cheese to make use of.

Ravi gets to pick in this year's draft so another strong asset to have, and he uses his Cheese.

For me I needed a backup, not a starter. And wanted Cheese. So unfortunately, the fit didn't help...my apologies Scorp.

I would agree. This is my opinion, for what it's worth

It's been 3 or 4 years since I've been in the league and in general, it seems young guys are valued even more so than before. As well, it seems there are more teams in Cheese trouble than before without many buyers willing to take on the cap space.

What it mainly comes down to is there aren't enough buyers for higher OVR guys...even mid-age guys, let alone older ones. And there should be more, because half the fun of the league is winning.

Even strong RFA's are getting sold at lower than usual prices.

But, the market dictates...either way it will be interesting to see how it all plays out. Off-season is always entertaining.
