Need A New BBQ 2020
The title says it all; need a new BBQ.
I don't need anything fancy, a 2-burner would be ideal.
I have a tendency to forget about the BBQ cover, thus something that can hold up to the elements would be nice.
In my humble opinion, a flame is a flame, ergo I don't need the biggest, best, most expensive unit, but I don't want a piece of junk either.
Opening this up to the CP Braintrust for opinions.

What’s your budget and NG or propane? Canadian Tire has some decent deals on the LEX model Napoleons and Costco seems to have random deals too.

Weber kettle.
Stupid cheap, easy to use, and should last. Small footprint with a very capable cooking area. Easy to replace anything if it ever breaks, and there are a million add-ons if you ever want to try new things.
It uses charcoal which is super easy to use thee days and makes your food taste way, way better.

i bought this used 2 years ago.... https://broilkingbbq.com/grills/baron/baron_320/
it has been awesome! i figure the guy who i bought it off of only used it a few times becuz it was pretty much brand new - first thing i was going to do was clean it and there was nothing to clean.
it's nice and small (it's actually larger than our previous bbq) and i've never come close to running short of space cooking for a family of 4 (often 5 when my mom comes over for dinner)

This. Buy a Slow n Sear to go with it and you have a pretty effective smoker too (all for ~$250).

Try to buy a Broil King, as much of their line is made in Canada. Napoleon too, although now only on their higher models.

Based on your description I’d go cheap bbq and replace in 5 years.
Wait for a Canadian tire sale and go for it.

I have the same BBQ as BC-Chris and agree completely! Amazing BBQ for the price and indestructible! The extra cost upfront is worth it in my opinion.

Anyone have feedback on a Traeger? I BBQ and smoke often with my Bradley. Does a Traeger make sense to eliminate having BBQ + Traeger?

Completely anecdotal unprovable advice:
I have heard that Traeger is now entirely outsourced to China. And the quality of the parts has plummeted with that. Yet unsurprisingly the prices haven't budged at all.

A southerner once told me “Son Natural Gas is for heatin your home. You cook food on charcoal”
Get a weber kettle like another poster said. Cooking on a gas grill imparts little to no flavor, and yes I know about smoke boxes.
I don’t get cooking on gas anymore. I sear on my stove when I need to and don’t want to light my charcoal. I used to have a Genesis but ended up selling it.
Plus smelling like a campfire gets you points with the lady for that manly smell. Ahh Who am I kidding, I am going to the shower before bed on strict orders.

I have the one BC Chris and Lumby said to buy and will be selling it shortly as I need a gas one and this is propane. As they both said, very durable, solid build, simple but effective!

Another vote for a Weber. You may pay more up front but it is built like a tank. Very consistent results.

I have a traegar and they can do everything a BBQ can with the exception of searing. Realistically you could replace it and do your searing on the oven.

It is not that hard or expensive converting from LP over into NG. You could just do that.

Look around, I went with a green mountain grill due to it being way cheaper than a traegar and just as good. Tons of pellet grills popping up these days though. Also for searing I just bought a cast iron grate to put in the pellet smoker and it works fantastic.

I have the Broil King Baron and it's ok. I wouldn't say it's fantastic or anything. It works. It's well made. I preferred my previous Weber that I left at our rental property. I should say that I am on gas as well.
I am looking at replacing it with a pellet grill but heard the same info about the Traeger's so I was going to look at something else.

I concur. My family had a broil king growing up that must have run well for 20 years. Naturally this was my first choice when I bought my own roughly 10 years ago. It's large enough to cook just about anything and doesn't take up a huge chunk of your patio at the same time.
All I have had to replace on my Signet during this time is the battery in my igniter. I make a point of doing a full clean of the grill and burner every spring and fall and otherwise it is hands off.
