Default Brunch or Breakfast Places

Hi there, I have family visiting from out of town. I want to take them out for breakfast.

Can you guys recommend a nice to eat.

I've good things about OEB Breakfast Co but the waiting time seems to be an hour
Also Cora is a nice place but huge line ups.

Thanks

The Belmont down in Marda Loop is fantastic, but incredibly small so depending on when you go it can be kinda hard to get in. Unlimited hashbrowns!!

Can't believe the amount of time people will spend in line for brunch. It's just brunch! How much better can it be than any other place?

I usually hit Broken City or The Ship for hungover brunches that you don't have to wait in line for. Really good.

Monki. Best Eggs Benedict I've ever had.

http://www.monki.ca/

Edit: It looks like they might be closed this weekend.

Every time I see a Cora's at lunch I just shake my head. Like that's actually enjoyable to people?

"Hey, what do you guys want to do for lunch? I was thinking we should cram ourselves in with craploads of other people and wait forever."

This place is a block away from our place, and it always looked intriguing, so i just took a look at their menu. Holy crapballs is it expensive. 14-16 bucks for eggs benedict? 15 bucks for a panini? A side of fruit is 5 bucks?

Lol Calgary, you slay me.

Cora is always a mindbottler place. Half the restaurant can be empty and it still takes 30 minutes to get your food. I mean it's breakfast food! I guess they spend all their time carving fruit into art pieces....

I just checked OEB, Dairy Lane, Red, Galaxie and they all have pretty much the same price as Monki for Egg Bennys. I guess that's what you have to expect in a city with money.

We went to Gruman's deli on 11 Ave SW, across from Keynote, last weekend and really enjoyed it. A touch bit cheaper than the previously mentioned OEB, Monki, Diner Deluxe and a bit more limited menu. We'd go back again, though I want to go for lunch sometime and try their matzo ball soup.

Red's Diner on 4th St and 15 Ave SW is good as well.

At Easter, we went to the Royal Executive Inn/Steels Cafe & Grill (in the NE, just off Barlow) for brunch, as recommended from people here at CP. It was excellent. They do a regular Sunday brunch as well. $$ though.

Brewsters in Lake Bonavista offers the best breakfast menu in the city on weekends.
