How much better does that bottom pairing look compared to our last game?

Hard to label defenseman as a consistency from team to team, but has to be a good thing to add back Giordano, and two guys that were 3/4 on their teams in ice time prior to the trade.

A poor man's second pairing is a nice boost to a third pairing.

Brodie back to his correct side, and Stone out of the lineup.

Defense looks a lot better, hopefully the bottom pair can gel quickly.

A little nervous about D but not because of who they are. Only because the bottom pairing has had no practice time and just flew in on the red eye and because of Gio's first game back.

Oh well, at least they have an easy opponent in a building it's easy to win in...

Yeah, but both Brodie and Gustafsson are better than Stone on RD. Both have played it consistently in their career.

Next year maybe Yelesin makes the jump.

Kinda makes Hammer seem replaceable. I understand that was kinda the point. Now my only question is what to do with Kylington. We also have Juuso for next season. The way I see it, Juuso is set to take Forbort's spot with Gusta next season and then look towards Hanifin. But that still doesn't leave an answer as to what to do with Kylington. You can keep Forb as the 7th defencemen when Juuso gets back but as for Kylington not a clue.

I really wish they'd move Bennett up to the 3rd line and make it Dube - Bennett - Ryan with Ryan taking draws on the right. Lucic can play with Jankowski and Reider.

I think those defensive pairings make a lot of sense.

Can't believe the Bruins wasted all their energy in the comeback against us to get shelled by the Canucks.

They owe us.

Anything short of a spectacular shootout winner by Gus or Bort against Boston will be disappointing:

Predicting a 3-2 Flames win (in a shootout, of course).

Gio> all
Forbort>Stone
Gustafsson >Kyllington

They’ll figure it out.

Oh I agree. I hope it doesn't take long to figure it out (and with Gio I'm always nervous for players coming back from injury, usually because you see them on crutches, then gingerly skating and then suddenly they are playing NHL hockey again).

Gus report says "not good at defending"....yikes. Guess he fits right in with the rest of our D core.

All true, except we tend to forget that Gio is a BEAST.

@Fan960Wills

It looks like Erik Gustafsson will quarterback #Flames PP1 and Mark Giordano will move to PP2. #CGYvsBOS

Holy F, Gio is back?? Awesome!

Looking forward to seeing Gus on the PP. Will be nice to see someone deliver bombs from the point with regularity.

Hoping for another classic Brodie-scores-a-fluky-goal-in-Bonston to win this one!
