REBUILD IN FULL EFFECT
UNIONDALE, NY - The New York Islanders have pulled off their first real blockbuster of the season sending Markus Naslund back to the Chicago BlackHawks.
Reports have been confirmed that the New York Islanders have dealt superstar Markus Naslund back to the Chicago Blackhawks for Jiri Hudler, Tuomo Ruutu, Shawn Belle, and Marek Schwarz.
"Naslund is a superstar, there's no question about it," GM KEV said regarding the deal, "but what we're getting back in this deal is well worth it in my opinion."
At a tender age of 21, Hudler leads the Hawks in scoring with 7 goals and 4 assists, compiling a +6 rating in 11 games so far this season.
Young phenom Tuomo Ruutu, who was involved in the blockbuster deal which saw Brad Richards leave Chicago has also done well this season with 3 goals and 5 assists in 10 games played.
Shawn Belle, who was a key ingredient in Team Canada's gold medal victory in the 2005 World Junior Hockey Championship also makes his move over to the Islanders.
Last, but not least, Marek Schwarz, who was awarded with the Top Goaltender award in the very same World Junior Hockey Championship where he represented his home country the Czech Republic will also make his move from the Chicago organization to the New York Islanders.
"In the end, we gave up a huge, huge player who has done nothing but good things for our club since being acquired," GM KEV said about Naslund, "but we're getting four very, very good players back here. Two have already proven thus far that they are CPHL ready, while the other two are maybe a few years away, but nonetheless will become big parts of this Islander organization."
In Chicago, teams around the CPHL will now have to worry about containing the much-feared Morrison-Naslund-Bertuzzi trio, which could very well emerge as one of the top lines in the CPHL.
