Oilers re-sign Kassian (4 yrs, $3.2mil AAV)

While we ponder what may or may not happen between Zack Kassian and Matthew Tkachuk in the EDM-CGY game tonight, Kassian has reason to be happy. The pending UFA F has a new contract extension — AAV of $3.2M — with the Oilers.

Kassian contract breakdown:
Year 1: $2.5M salary, $1M signing bonus.
Year 2: $2.5M salary, $1M signing bonus.
Year 3: $3.5M salary.
Year 4: $2.3M salary.
The contract does not include any type of no-trade protection.

Dollar wise its ok, he's probably going to hit a career year in goals. Of course its more about him being on McDavids line. Anything longer then 2 or 3 years would be incredibly stupid.

Nice payday for Kassian. All he had to do was lose his temper against Tkachuk, cost the Oilers two points, get suspended for two games, and now he's an integral part of their core. Well done Kenny!
