icon53 A new podcast project, featuring Hrudey, Fata, Conroy, and more...

Hey guys, I've spent the last couple of months helping to put together a new podcast project with a buddy of mine. It initially started out as a small side project but I'm pleased to say that's it grown a lot to the point where I really want to share it with you guys.

My co-host Noah is a huge fan of the Flames' "Blasty" jersey so we found it fitting to call the show "The Blasty Cast." We spent our first two episodes discussing hockey jerseys, including a ranking of the Reverse Retro line. They were a lot of fun and I'll post the links down below.

But the ones that I'm really excited about are our episodes featuring guests. We've had the great fortune to speak with Rico Fata, Craig Conroy, and Kelly Hrudey thus far on the show and our next episode will feature the one and only Flame to score a series-winning goal against Edmonton, Perry Berezan. We're working on getting some more guests on the show, too — Peter Hanlon has been extremely helpful in this regard.

I'm really excited about how the show is progressing and we're working hard on bringing new episodes to the table on a regular basis. I wanted to wait until we had a decent library before I posted the show here and hopefully you'll be able to find an episode that you're interested in listening to! Also, if there's anyone who you really want to hear from on our show, please let me know — I'll see if I can make it happen.

The show is available on SoundCloud, Apple, Spotify, and Google. Just look up "The Blasty Cast." Here are some links to episodes on SoundCloud.

Episode 5 (Kelly Hrudey):

Really hope you enjoy, guys — please let me know what you think of the show. We've had a lot of fun putting it together.

Good for you. Great time to do something like this, when NHL teams probably want to draw more eyes and ears to their product

Fata, Conroy, and Hrudey were all great guests. Probably just about ideal as they were all able to come up with long and interesting stories for their answers.

Really interesting hearing Hrudey's polar opposite reactions to Arbour and Sutter. Not entirely surprised as Darryl struck me as a coach that probably had 1 mode, and it wasn't particularly player friendly.

No surprise he's great friends with Ball either, as their chemistry is great. I don't get the negativity Kelly gets from some. Yeah he's very positive most of the time, but isn't afraid to call out a selfish player, or bad mistake either.

Thanks — I really enjoy having an energetic co-host to play off of this time around and I'm downright thrilled with the guests.

My last show was a nice test for me to prove that I could do something like this after getting really sick and having to come home from school down east. I feel like this show is a little bit more confident and complete.

I would say I'm the most proud of the Conroy show thus far. It's got some really fun Easter eggs in there. But all the guests have been unreal and Noah has done a great job.

Really looking forward to Berezan, too.

How did you get Craig Conroy to keep it to only 50 minutes?

(Just kidding of course... congrats on you podcast series).

I listened to the episode with Conroy.

Really good insight into his thinking and decision making, both as a player changing locations, and with his post play career path.

I quite enjoyed it, well done

The Conroy show was fun. Some crazy Kipper stories.

Doing great work to keep me from going hockey stir-crazy while waiting for the season to start. Good start to Flames journalism in general.

We'll be all watching you interview players on TV regularly in the future, I imagine.
