It will include all the new league rules, finances, rosters, etc. The best part is that the update is FREE for people who already have the game. Of course, you'll need to start a new career to have the changes.

Sorry. I should have been more specific. Users who bought the European boxed version of NHL EHM 2005 or the digital download during the summer will be entitled to a free download of the North American version.

I'm still using the very old yet free version of EHM. Is it worth my money to get EHM 2005?

The free version was programmed by a comp sci student in his free time using Visual Basic. NHL EHM 2005 is programmed by a development team with years of experience with their hugely successful Championship Manager/Football Manager series.
It's a day and night comparison and I played the free version too. I got tired of it after winning 8 Stanley Cups in a row with the Flames.

hey pagal,
the game (and championship manager if youre a soccer fan) are simulators that let you take control of a team, make trades, set lines, etc. and then run seasons.
my explanation doesnt really do it justice at all, so here are a couple of (older) links. try em.
http://www.sigames.com/downloads.php?type=view&id=153 (soccer)
http://www.sigames.com/downloads.php?type=view&id=217 (hockey)
im giving the links to the older versions because i think that they are easier to follow and less complicated than the newer ones.
when youve given these a try, go to the same site and try the latest versions of each. you wont be disappointed.
these games are soooooooooo addicting.

I made the mistake of downloading the free version of EHM one semester during midterms; I grew tired of the marathon sessions right around ... oh when I needed to start cramming. The problem was I got the "itch" right around ... you guessed it ... finals!

School is a very bad time to start playing this game. Comes and goes in phases too, you'll play 20 hours in 3 days, then wait a week, then same thing again. Cravings are insane.
It threw off my sleep patterns really badly for a while.

Oh, wow, you had the 20 hours in 3 days thing too? Man, I thought I was the only one. I actually had to uninstall the software to keep myself from playing it, it was never one of those things that I could just not use.
In fact, I probably shouldn't have opened this thread ...

This game is great and it has messed with my sleep, got in the way of other projects. Sure has slowed down the process now that I can manage both Calgary and Omaha. This Salary cap sure changes the way I look at managing the team.
Note: When I was working on my masters degree I had to delete all games from my system. If you are in school forget this game exists. There will be plenty of time to play it when you graduate.

Not to mention the very real possibility you won't graduate at all if you play the game at the ridiculous times of year I did.
Plus, it's not like you can play EHM professionally ... or can you?
