Default Sep. 29, wrapping up the preseason

Normally I would never discuss an OOT in the preseason, but this game between the Knights and Sharks has been interesting.

Knights are pummeling the Sharks, going 3 for 5 on the power play so far, currently leading 5-1.

But this has been a hate-filled affair with plenty of stuff after the play as these teams tune up for the regular season.

Lots of penalties, including a roughing incident between Kane and Zykov in the 2nd where they fought shortly after serving their penalties.

Dell was called for intereference/checking on Stone who was penalized for cross-checking Dell in retaliation. Lots of roughing penalties and misconducts in the third period to go along with all this.

But late in the third, Engelland and Kane got into it behind the play and Kane was ejected for abuse of an official. The linesman got between the two before a fight could break out and essentially tackled Kane. Kane gets up and shoves the official (albeit not very hard), which led to his game misconduct for abuse of an official.

Something tells me he will have a hearing for this incident and might be suspended even before the season begins.

Labanc just got a roughing penalty with 2 minutes left and was also given a misconduct, ALSO for abuse of officials.

Hoo boy...this Sharks team is full of thugs that aren't going to be playing opening night.

One more thing to add...

These two teams play in a home and home opening series to start the season on Wednesday night.

All I can say is that this will be must see T.V.

Not sure what Stone is thinking, the line he’s taking goes right thru Dell.

Looks more like Dell was bracing, with a little reverse hit added in.

Tom Wilson shoved an official this afternoon in Raleigh as well, but was not ejected. Instead was given a misconduct. Apparently Cane coaches were chirping him which is a no-no for most players. Something started because of that.

Side note to that game... over 18,000 in attendance for an afternoon game while the NFL is going is a HUGE deal for that franchise.

Last years on-ice success showing its benefit early this season.

I don't really think Kane should be suspended for that, maybe a fine. Although I'm sure he will be suspended. Didn't look that violent and the lineman was partially to blame IMO

I loath Kane, and I have no tolerance for abuse of officials, but I didn't think that was very egregious. The ref held him for a while and tackled him. Kane got fed up and pushed him away.

Wilsons penalty should be Sufficient and theres no need for a suspension on that play either IMO, although again I'm sure there will be

I think when Kane tried to swing his stick at Engelland just before the wrestling and hit the official (accidentally) with his stick might have been even worse - no viable excuse for hitting someone when you swing your stick. Guy is such a dirtbag.

I didn't think the Dell elbow or Stone cross check were all that bad. Kane might have been upset at the linesman, but pushing away an official is a huge no-no, wouldn't be surprised if he sat a game. Even if you're upset at an official for a good reason you still need to contain yourself.

Dell did the same crap to Bennett last year that set him off. Dell actually needs to stand up once when he does this stuff. If a goalie is going to get physically involved he needs to answer the bell.
