He did look like he tweaked something in practice a couple of days ago on a cross crease play....hoping it is only a minor issue and he is able to get treatment and be 100% when he is needed.

I think this is a good idea. Being a part of pro practices, and watching NHL games live, and being a part of a playoff atmosphere is a part of his development. I can't imagine that he will see more ice time than an optional skate, or being out there with the healthy scratches, but all the same it is better than sitting at home.

Gotta assume Rittich isn't 100 percent. Hopefully it's minor and he's ready to go soon. We will use and need both him and Smith these playoffs.

Okay but they aren't making the playoffs, are they? Even if theyre in the race, Nick Schneider has been a full goal per game better than Gillies, he's probably their better option.
Practice goalie.

Could be as simple as having a goalie to shoot on for the extra defenseman and forwards.
I know Peters shut a few out of the main practice last week because there were too many bodies.

Were the Heat carrying 3 G's?
If so then that makes some sense, although i question why they would choose Gillies over Parsons or Schneider for target practice.

I think it might be just as simple as that he is goalie with the seniority. It makes the most sense to me if this is solely for practice purposes that seniority would count for more than actual performance.
