Default Eastern Wildcard Race

Much like the West, there is a pretty good battle for the Wildcard out East. Unlike the West, there is really only 1 spot up for grabs, as the 8th place team gets the honor of being massacred by the Lightning, so all 3 teams know that finishing 7th is the only real chance they have.

There are also no more 4-point games left in the race (last night was the last), so will be a tight finish with CBJ having clawed back into a spot. Habs being a game down will need some help in the final stretch here.

Hoping Carolina and Montreal make it. Columbus missing would be pretty chaotic, and chaos is fun.

Columbus last game of the season is against Ottawa. I would love to see Ottawa knock them out of the final wild card spot for the lols

I'll chip in to send Brooksie to that post-game scrum

Colombus missing after all they gave up at the deadline for rentals and then potentially watching Duchene, Dzingel, Panarin and Bobrovskiy all walk away for nothing would be quite hilarious.

But I'd rather the Habs miss. If I had it my way there would only be one Canadian based team in the playoffs every year.

urgh, even tho the Canes aren't doing their storm surge in the playoffs, I'd love to see them bounced out. What a joke of a team. Although BJ's getting knocked out would be epic!

edit: not the team that's necessarily a joke in Carolina, but that whole storm surge thing I've hated from day 1. has made me look at them in a much more negative way.

Personally I hope Carolina wins a game at home and busts out a surprise Storm Surge. Just to piss Don Cherry off and see what kinda crazy sh*t he says.

The post game celebrations aren’t my thing, but they don’t bother me. They’re not a traditional hockey market so are looking for ways to engage the fan base and create an identity of sorts. It’s no different than Vegas’ pre-game theatre. Sometimes it’s the little extras that help when the product itself needs some assistance.

What I've gathered from the general atmosphere in this thread is that users enjoy chaos. Put me on board with CBJ missing and Carolina winning a home game for maximum Cherry.

I have to think that as close as it looks, CBJ and CAR are in unless they botch it

Montreal has a tough schedule, and 1 less game

Think the Habs miss out, they needed to win last night. That was a classic 4 pointer.

I just want it to be a team who might give Tampa slightly more than a free pass into round 2

Of these teams who has the best recent record, team, coach or goalie vs the lightning?

Could Price or Bob steal a game or two?

I would enjoy watching a CLB/TB series. They could give them a bit of a run.

Yeah that isn't any of these three.

The Habs have a real greasy team. They would make for some fun playoff antics.

I think Price is the best chance to upset Tampa, so I'm hoping the Habs make it.
