Flames use one of 4 regular call ups on Lazar
After the trade deadline, teams are only allowed 4 regular call ups.
Also players not on the AHL roster at the trade deadline cannot be sent down for the rest of the season.
According to Treliving, only player on NHL roster that was sent down briefly and then called up was Lazar.
This means everyone else, like Mangiapane, Kylington, Andersson etc are here for the rest of the season and are ineligible to be assigned to the AHL for the rest of the season
Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
GM Treliving confirms team papered Lazar down and back up from AHL. They have three recalls between now and end of the season.
Neal (lower body) to be re-evaluated after the trip. Valimaki up to speed in the AHL. Expect Stone to be blueline option at some point, too. #Flames

Is it still an option for Stone to go to Stockton for a conditioning stint? If so, and if he agrees, will the Flames burn a recall in getting him back to Calgary?

I believe conditioning stints are not considered regular call ups, but not completely sure.

Dont know if he can do a conditioning stint but i cant see why not, however im pretty sure that if he does, no recall needed because its not waivers.

So, assuming that Stone is exempt, what are we looking at for the final three?
· Valimaki
· Quine
· Rychel?

I think he takes up a roster spot and that is all.

I don't think it will be too much of a problem.
Valimaki is one, but
Stone
Neal, and
Fantenberg
will also be joining the team. That is a 26-man roster already, 27 with Lazar. Add Quine, and you still have one more emergency call-up available.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Bennett - Jankowski - Neal
Mangiapane - Ryan - Hathaway
Dube - Quine - Czarnik
Lazar
Giordano - Brodie
Hanifin - Hamonic
Kylington - Andersson
Valimaki - Stone
Fanenberg - Prout

You have to save one in case you have a goalie issue. Valimaki and likely Dube will come up after the AHL season is done. Quine will likely end up as a black ace.

Yes to the first two and probably Rychel, though you could also go with Lomberg or Peluso for toughness, or Valiev for yet another D. And what about Graovac? I know nothing about him except his stats are good and he is big.
Edit - no! Dube.

Teams are also allowed unlimited emergency call ups.
An emergency is considered when a situation exists where you cannot dress 12 forwards 6 d-men and 2 goalies.

With this in view, I would think that the smartest thing to do is use all your recalls on skaters, and not worry about saving one for a goalie. In the playoffs, you are either playing your starter, or you are in desperation playing your backup to salvage a series, or one of them is injured which would constitute an emergency.

I think a goalie issue would be an injury and therefore not a regular call-up. If one of the goalies plays really badly, he's just going to sit. If both do, Gillies/Parsons isn't going to change the momentum of the POs.

What's Quine done to earn the coaches ire? He seems to clearly have the strongest case for a call up.

The Flames required waivers to recall him, I believe, which is why he has remained in Stockton. He will be back for the playoffs.

Yeah, Quine reached the maximum limit of his recall. If he played one more game, he would have either had to stay in the NHL for the rest of the season, or clear waivers again. Obviously, they weren't prepared to do either of those things, so they sent him down.
Because of the roster expansion, he could stay with the team for the rest of the season if he were recalled now.
