Default Wild 4 Flames 2

Wild 4 Flames 2

- Wild spoil Iggy night
- Smith makes huge gaff to yield lead
- top line showing some signs
- Calgary continues to struggle with finish.

The thing that concerns me the most was the body language of the other players after that 4th goal.

It reminded me of the start of Elliott's decline, where it ended up that the players are expecting the goalie to blow it so they play tight and over compensate.

That’s not a puck handling mistake; its stubbornness.
Agreed.

Otherwise, whatever. 7 in a row, you lose some here and there.

Torts wasn’t reviewing his team’s game today

It makes me feel so entitled.

Team wins 7 in a row, are 2nd in the league, 1st in the west with a decent gap on SJ, and I'm pissed off we lost.

Felt like we handed the game away though, so that's probably the reason largely. Hopefully it becomes another learning moment, for the team as well as the coaches.

As long as they buckle down at playoff time, all is good.

(Holy crap, worrying about playoff best practices just over 3/4 through the season!)

It was against the current 1st round playoff match up. To the Wild this was a big game that they went into without their best player.. Parise.

Good thing the playoffs, aren't a sudden death 1 game series. Gosh, even the mighty Jets lost their last game to their current opponent, Dallas 4-2

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

I caught myself reading bolded. Maybe others well consider the following but I forget too often that they're not just 2D characters on a screen:

-How much commitment and dedication it takes to be these in guys's (not just CGY all players, coaches, management well everyone in the league) spots. That's saying nothing about how good hockey players/world class athletes they have to be.

-The League is very hard, unforgiving and the stakes are high. Even vets are like 28 year old guys - they're all really young!

I'm not trying to critique anyone for criticizing players -I'm not the sheriff- but wanted to check myself a little with some perspective.

This is an amazing team playing just fantastic hockey and they all seem like pretty good humans from afar. Great to see them having fun bringing joy to people.

From the preseason game in China:

It was just wave after wave of chances. Not everyone was clicking on all cylinders but that's a good sign- there's more still.

I don't like to put people on ignore but the Bennett haters can get bent - they also happen to be Brodie haters and all they do post the same unintelligible crap to provoke their warped narrative. Pathetic. But their negativity will not diminish the excitement and optimism this team will fuel.

Anyway this team stylistically is incredibly improved, the flow to their attack, the zone entries and chances off the rush were beautiful to watch. That game was just an affirmation of what I was hoping to see with all the changes. I have no doubt that this season will be great in terms of results and entertainment.

It will be great to see how much noise they can make this year.
I'm going to try and make sure I'm not adding to any negativity. Especially after witnessing Iggy and his family and hearing about all it takes etc. Ahh I might be getting too sentimental but these guys are damn good.
