He's had an excellent first half to his season in Stockton, putting up 12 goals and 27 points in 33 games while being named an AHL All-Star. Could we see a return to Calgary for him, given how much Treliving paid for his services two seasons ago?

I’d like to see it. I think his trajectory isn't far off from Dube; some players just need time to put it together. Heck, even Backlund took his time and people were willing to sell low on him.

I'd be surprised if we didn't see him again sometime this season. Nice to see he's regained his offensive confidence down there. I still hold hope for him becoming a decent NHLer. He's got the skating, effort, physicality, character and now it seems like he's regained his hands a bit. I think he's a bit forgotten about by the fans. I don't think his opportunity will come because of his acquisition cost, I think he's legitimately one of our more NHL ready young forwards down there. I think they've left him down there this long to make sure he's really got the offensive confidence back.

With Quine, Lazar, Mangiapane and Dube we've got some really good depth options. Luckily we've been decently healthy up front so far.

He’ll get a chance up here nearing the end of the season I’m thinking. Hope he makes the most of it. Good kid.

If there's any player in our system I hope makes it full-time in the NHL, Lazar is right up there. It would be interesting to see him apart of this season's version of the Flames.

Last year I thought Lazar outplayed Hathaway in the second half and his speed opened up his playmaking, even if the finish wasn't there. Though Hathaway's been a great 4th liner for us this year. Can a roster find ice time for both?

Shoots right... Maybe he can find a permanent spot on line 2 given nobody else has been able to lock it down after half the season?

I wouldn't be surprised to see a trade to fill that spot. Team could use another top 6 player and a centre would cost more.

Lazar is running out of chances and needs to take full advantage of the opportunity when he gets called up. It's one thing to be able to produce at the AHL level and quite another at the NHL, Hopefully he gets that chance and sticks with the Flames.

I really want it to work out for him. I've been pulling for him since before he was even a Flame, he just seems like a nice guy. I'm glad he's producing and I'm happy he's doing well and I think it's a smart move to say something like this right now. It would be amazing for him and the team if he was called up and earned a permanent spot on the roster.

I think a trade will be made to bring in a #2C and Neal will get going but I can see Lazar being a solid third or maybe even second line guy.

Trade bait. It was very obvious that he was not a NHL player in his play with both of his teams prior to this season. Having success at the AHL level does not mean you're a NHL player, it just means you're a good AHL player. Lazar will have to find opportunity elsewhere because there is no one in the Flames current lineup he could bump. Lazar gives the Flames a chip they can use to sweeten a trade.

Sounds far-fetched at best.

He's supposedly a good character and locker room guy. It would be nice if he can make the most of his next opportunity but he will have to make it count.

How would a recall work for waivers? Is it only if he is sent down after X days or Y games?

I'm not sure how long it took the Flames to demote Lazar after he was initially waived, but the CBA stipulates that, after a player clears waivers, he has to spend 30 days on an NHL roster or play 10 NHL games before he is eligible to be waived again.

He didn't play well last year. But a lot of the Flames didn't play well under GG. Why not give him a chance and see if he can make an impact with the big club.
