I like how everyone gets a nick name except Saskatchewan. Ladies and gentlemen your Saskatchewan Saskatchewans.

So 8 more cities/regions to give teams outside of Seattle? OK

Put one in Mexico City. Give another one to the Greater Toronto area - say, for the Peel region. The NHL needs a team nicknamed the Peelers. Give the Montreal area another one, too. The Maroons. Sure.

Other 5 could go in Houston, somewhere in the bay area (San Francisco, Oakland, or San Mateo/Redwood City), Baltimore, Portland, and some other one in the area around Philly/NYC.

$750M each for the more isolated markets (Mexico City, Portland, Houston). $1B each for the ones going in established markets.

I dunno, wherever in the Bay Area some oligarch wants some kind of passion project or something. I don't know the area very well.

A 40 team league needs a European division. Plus I'll move some teams I don't like and go 8x5.

Stockholm
Helsinki
Prague
Cologne
London

Montreal
Quebec
Ottawa
Boston
Hartford

Toronto
Hamilton
Buffalo
Cleveland
Columbus

NY Rangers
Philly
Washington
New Jersey
Pittsburgh

Calgary
Vancouver
Edmonton
Seattle
Portland

San Jose
LA
Vegas
Colorado
Salt Lake City

Dallas
Houston
Nashville
St Louis
Kansas City

Winnipeg
Minnesota
Chicago
Milwaukee
Detroit

An European division with five teams would be intriguing but the cons outweigh the pros for such a move by the NHL.

5 European teams would be at such a disadvantage because of travel. North American teams making their European swing would lose a lot of TV revenue because of the time zone difference. An 11am PST game on a Tuesday morning doesn't generate enough viewers.

I could see Stockholm, Helsinki, and Koln or Berlin as cities taking off. Local wages in Prague I don't believe could support the cost of an NHL franchise and there isn't enough interest in London for hockey. How many British born hockey players are there?

So against euro or asian teams joing just no. At 31 and 31 teams joining is almost to much . I'll go more i depth of my reasons why I think it is a bad idea If people care that much but the majority of reason is beyo d common sense.

For a more balanced schedule we would need 64 teams would we not?
