Default Ottawa welcomes their fans back by trying to kill them

I didn't see this in the OOT threads.

The growing general haplessness of this franchise may warrant the creation of an "Ottawa Is No Good" thread.

So if you don’t have Twitter, what happened was the Sens dropped what they call “beach balls” but what kind of look like excercise balls from the rafters.

A reporter said they were heavy enough to hurt from that height, and apparently lots of beers got knocked over, and some children were hurt.

One quote said it was the worst marketing gimmick since the 67s had a “puck toss”, which sounds pretty stupid.

They may have to rename the arena the Canadian Trauma Centre after tonight.

For some reason I read this in the voice of Seth MacFarlane and now I'm laughing.

That's part of Melnyk's "Exciting Rebuild".

Anyone taking video in portrait mode has obviously already been hit on the head with heavy objects numerous times already.

I went to a Steve Aoki party years ago and I can vouch that those balls are heavy AF. I remember a ball fell directly on top of me and my buddy. We tried to give it a Shoryuken and it ended up flattening us both, drinks spilled all over. They aren't beach balls. They are pretty heavy and large. I could easily see some kid getting flattened by one.

They didn't even come close to selling out. 15,858 was the official count. Well below the artificially deflated capacity of 18,500.

The fans look like they will certainly be sending the message that they want Melnyk out.

The stupidest marketing team I've worked for had the same idea at a concert. He geniously launched 5 gigantic light-up balls from the BACK of the crowd to work it's way up to the front.

They were heavy and big, there were injuries and upset people within the first wave of attacks. I thought it was the stupidest plan from the biggest idiot I've ever worked with.

I'm still left holding the Senators' beer... are they coming back?

Say what you will about the in house music selection, at least the Flames never tried to snap our necks.

The Sens were doing the right thing, trying to put their fans out of their misery before the season really gets going

It must be a great time to be a Leafs fan. They signed Tavares and their provincial rival is the laughingstock of the NHL...

Well, it takes enormous balls to try and kill your fans after the off-season they just had.
